Building for a couple of architects means accepting that every detail will be examined through a trained eye. It was with this shared commitment to excellence that La Percée took shape: a second home for those seeking to leave the city behind, become rooted in the forest, and live in harmony with nature’s rhythm.
The site presented a significant challenge: a mountain property along a lake, with sensitive wetland areas requiring careful preservation. The home’s placement called for a deep understanding of the landscape and ingenuity in developing technical solutions.
Inspired by passive solar principles, the home takes advantage of its orientation to capture natural light and manage solar heat gains. Polished concrete floors absorb the sun’s warmth and gradually release it, reducing the need for mechanical heating.
At the heart of the home, wood paneling flows seamlessly from the ceiling down onto the wall in one continuous line, without trim, without interruption. A detail among many that reflects the precision this project demanded, as well as the connection that grew between two exacting visions of craftsmanship and thoughtful construction.
