The Bateau Project represents, to date, the most high-performing achievement in our journey: a home pursuing LEED Platinum certification, with an air leakage rate of 0.17 ACH, a result that reflects the meticulous execution of every detail within the building envelope.
Our clients only visited the site twice throughout the entire construction process. Living at a distance, they entrusted us with their project completely, and we honored that trust through consistent, thoughtful, and rigorous communication, from the first excavation to the final finishing touches.
On the exterior, natural cedar treated with a weathering agent gives the home a refined, grounded presence that blends seamlessly with its surroundings. Inside, the finishes were entrusted to Éco Terre: lime and hemp plaster applied over lath, along with a tadelakt bathroom finish, a hand-polished mineral plaster with a timeless character.
After one year of occupancy, the home continues to demonstrate this performance in measurable ways: its electricity consumption is 50% to 70% lower than that of a comparable home. The materials were also sourced from regional producers and artisans. This project embodies a complete vision of what a sustainable home can be: beautiful, high-performing, and deeply human.
